Taylor out, Blizzard/Turnbull should be OK

JIM Gannon has a few injury concerns to mull over as he continues his preparations for Saturday’s League One curtain-raiser at Huddersfield Town.

All three main worries surround midfielders.

Jason Taylor is definitely out of action for around eight weeks yet, but Dominic Blizzard and Paul Turnbull should both return to full training before the weekend and Gannon is hopeful that those two should make the trip to the Galpharm Stadium.

Taylor has suffered an injury to a metatarsal bone in his foot.

He has had an operation and is still on crutches.

However, Blizzard [hamstring] and Turnbull [groin] may feature on Saturday.

Hatters boss Gannon said: "It’s a bit of a worry, but Dominic trained on Tuesday and Paul will resume later in the week.

"If either player doesn’t make it for Saturday though, then they will certainly be available for our two games next week against Leicester.

"It’s not an injury crisis, but it’s just a shame that all our three injury concerns surround midfielders."

Meanwhile, County’s under-21 development team turned in an eye-catching performance on Monday night when they won 2-1 at North West Counties League neighbours New Mills.

In front of a crowd of almost 1,000, County had to come from behind at Church Lane.

Adam Mather scored after 12 minutes with a cracking angled drive from 25 yards.

However, the Hatters roared back to go in front before half-time.

Matty Mainwaring levelled matters with a low drive from just outside the box, then Darren Green scored on 35 minutes to keep up his fine pre-season record.
