Dicker: 'It could have been three points'

COUNTY’S Irish midfielder Gary Dicker thoroughly enjoyed his first League One experience at Huddersfield on Saturday, but he did admit that he and his team-mates were a little disappointed they didn’t leave the Galpharm Stadium with a win.
Dicker, who once again was hugely effective and grafted hard in the County engine room, said after Saturday’s 1-1 draw: "We are a bit disappointed we didn’t get the win.
"We pushed on in the second half and put Huddersfield under a lot of pressure.
"They only really looked dangerous at setpieces.
"We’re happy enough with one point, but I think we could have got all three.
"We controlled large chunks of the game.
"They are a big, physical side, but the gaffer tried to counter that by bringing on Matty McNeil to try and hold things up.
"We changed the shape in the second half, and I think that worked.
"This result will give us all confidence now though. We can push on from here and go and get that first win of the season soon, that’s most important.
"It’s a good start, but maybe we should have won the game.
"We should have created more with all the possession we had in the second half, but we can’t grumble at coming here and getting a point."
Dicker went on: "The pitch was great, and that definitely suited us.
"We like to play it from the back and move forward, utilising the space.
"It’s a good start for us, but it could have been even better."
While some people may have feared that nerves could have been a factor for County’s young team on Saturday, Dicker dismissed that and admitted that he revelled in the Galpharm Stadium atmosphere as almost 16,000 fans enjoyed the opening day experience.
Dicker added: "The atmosphere was brilliant. This is what it’s all about, playing in front of big crowds.
"It just makes you hungrier to go on and play at an even higher level.
"Our fans were brilliant yet again. They were louder than the home fans, they just took over in the second half.
"The lads weren’t nervous at all about playing in front of a huge crowd. Don’t forget we played at Wembley and got through that game okay."
