Search for a star - again

COUNTY are on the lookout for their next young superstar in an innovative scheme created by their development manager Alan Lord.
The Hatters have linked-up with Myerscough College, near Preston, to establish a new Football Scholarship; a scheme that will be unique throughout the Football League.
The new link, which will run alongside County’s YTS scheme, provides the Hatters with the opportunity to work with Myerscough in creating a new model for the development of young players.
Myerscough has already been a great source of talent for County, with current professionals Anthony Pilkington - who scored one of the Hatters’ goals in May’s Wembley play-off final - and his brother Danny graduates from their football course.
To get the exciting project underway County are looking to fill the last of ten places by staging a trial game at Manor Farm, the club’s training ground at Timperley, this Sunday, August 24.
Players aged 16 to 18 who believe they deserve a career in professional football, and have some evidence of their ability, can still apply for a trial by e-mailing: info@profootball4u.com or posting their footballing CV to County at Edgeley Park, Hardcastle Road, Edgeley, Stockport SK3 9DD, marking the envelope ‘Football Scholarship’.
The successful trialist will be offered a 12-month paid scholarship by the club beginning in September - the first step to stardom.
Hatters’ managing director Mark Maguire said: "Myerscough put aside relationships with Premiership and Championship clubs to work with us on what is a groundbreaking initiative. The trial match, sponsored by our main club sponsor, Just Search, is a great way to launch it."
