FA Cup test will be tough
26/11/2008
JIM Gannon’s in-form young team face another stern test of their credentials if they are to make it into the potentially lucrative third round stage of the FA Cup.
The Hatters travel to League Two Gillingham on Saturday for a Cup second round tie that Gannon won’t be taking lightly.
The County boss said: "Gillingham will be a tough place to go.
"They took quite a beating at Bury on Saturday, so they will have been smarting from that when they prepared to play Rochdale on Tuesday.
"They’re at home on Saturday and they’ll be looking to take our scalp, but I’m sure they’ll have seen us play and they will have been impressed with our performances over the last couple of games.
"League Two is quite highly competitive this season, there’s not much between the top eight or nine teams.
"Gillingham are very much in there, so it’s definitely not going to be a game we can take lightly.
"We’ll see how our lads come out of Tuesday’s game against Brighton.
"We might have to freshen up a few things, but all being well our ability to change our system before or during the game should give us an edge on Saturday."
The draw for the third round of the FA Cup takes place on Sunday.
