SHOVE ASIDE: Action from Green Lane on Saturday
It's agony for Moor
Mike McDermott12/11/2008
Heaton Moor 23 Tyldesley 26: HIGH-flying Tyldesley grabbed a drop-goal in the dying seconds to deny brave Heaton Moor a deserved share of the spoils at Green Lane on Saturday.
It was an agonising defeat for Moor, who slid down a place to sixth in the league table despite putting in arguably their best performance of the season so far.
After the game, a Tyldesley official humbly admitted that his side had ‘got out of jail’.
A gritty battle between two strong sides saw the hosts 13-11 up at half-time.
The lead was extended to 20-11, but as the final quarter-hour approached, Tyldesley had battled back to lead 23-20.
Martin Shelley popped over a penalty to level it up at 23-23 with seconds remaining but, from the drop-out, the ball was moved sideways to the visitors’ fly-half who dramatically slotted over a last-ditch drop-goal.
Earlier Moor’s tries had come from Phil Thomas, Martin Snidal and Peter Stourac.
This Saturday Moor will attempt to bounce back as they travel to struggling Oldham.
