Sharks' trio get the nod

SHARKS trio Charlie Hodgson, Richard Wigglesworth and Andrew Sheridan will all start for England in the First Test against New Zealand on Saturday in a side that has 11 changes from the last outing with Ireland.

Meanwhile Mathew Tait, Sharks’ new signing from Newcastle, has been named among the replacements.

England team to play New Zealand in Auckland on Saturday: M Brown (Harlequins); T Ojo (London Irish), M Tindall (Gloucester), O Barkley (Gloucester), D Strettle (Harlequins); C Hodgson (Sale), R Wigglesworth (Sale); A Sheridan (Sale Sharks), L Mears (Bath), M Stevens (Bath), T Palmer (Wasps), S Borthwick (Saracens, captain), J Haskell (Wasps), T Rees (Wasps), L Narraway (Gloucester). Replacements: D Paice (London Irish), T Payne (Wasps), B Kay (Leicester), J Worsley (Wasps), D Care (Harlequins), J Noon (Newcastle), M Tait (Sale Sharks).

PROFESSIONAL coaches from Sale Sharks have teamed up with five primary schools in Stockport as part of the EDF Energy National Schools’ Rugby Programme.

Disbury Road, Greave and Ludworth primary schools in Stockport, Lane End primary school in Cheadle Hulme, and Norbury Hall primary school in Hazel Grove, are the latest to join the programme, which will have introduced 70,000 children to rugby by July.

Community coaches from Sharks are working with each school over the last six weeks of the summer term, before all the schools come together for a regional tag rugby festival hosted by the club.

The programme, which is aimed at nine and 10-year-olds and is managed by Premier Rugby, is part of EDF Energy’s commitment to help secure the future fans and players of the game. EDF Energy’s involvement ensures schools have the equipment and knowledge to go on and play the game for years to come.
