Fitness First with Sale Sharks

RUGBY players are usually an elusive bunch during the summer months, hidden away in the gym. Well not anymore.
Sharks’ head of athletic performance Steve Walsh is the man in charge at Carrington at present and each week he will be revealing some of the secrets of fitness success and throwing light on the mysteries of rugby training, exclusively in the Stockport Express.
Walsh began his career playing rugby league at Swinton before prematurely swapping life on the field for a university place aged 28. PE teaching was his initial goal but Walsh was lured back into professional sport and worked with rugby league sides Wigan, Halifax, Leeds Rhinos and Harlequins’ union team before joining Sale Sharks towards the end of last season.
