Lawson leaves for Gloucester
10/ 9/2008
SCOTLAND international Scott Lawson has been released from his contract with Sharks.
The 26-year-old hooker, who had almost a year left on his Sale contract, has joined Gloucester on a deal that will run until the end of next season.
After returning from the World Cup at the start of last season Lawson struggled to claim a place in Sharks 22.
He made the starting line-up in Premiership matches just once and was used as a substitute just three times in the league.
In total Lawson, who completed pre-season with Sharks this summer, started for Sale only four times last term.
He made his debut for Sharks in 2007 against Gloucester and moves to Kingsholm following the loss of Ross McMillan to a serious knee injury during a pre-season game against Bayonne last month.
Lawson will compete against former Sale player Andy Titterrell and Olivier Azam for the hooker’s shirt.
He said: "This is a new chapter in my career and I am looking forward to it. Gloucester are regarded as a hugely go-forward and ambitious club and I want to help play my part in that quest for success."
