Worcester 33 Sale Sharks 48

Jenny Dixon
13/ 2/2006

SALE Sharks clinched a bonus point victory at Worcester on Saturday, despite being without a third of their first team players.

While Charlie Hodgson attended to his Six Nations duties with England, Valentin Courrent stepped in at fly-half to orchestrate Sharks' six try spectacular, scoring the first touch-down and posting 18 points with his boot.

Sale's biggest away win in the league for six years keeps Sharks at the top of the Guinness Premiership and is a reassuring start to their Premiership campaign during the RBS Six Nations, a tournament that proved costly for the Stockport-based club last year.

Winger Steve Hanley crossed the try-line on his first outing for the senior squad since recovering from injury, while the other touch-downs were scored by Dean Schofield, Andy Titterrell, Sililo Martens and Oriol Ripol.
