Harlequins 27 Sale Sharks 28
Jenny Dixon9/10/2006
IT MAY not be fancy footwork but mastery of the boot proved decisive in Sharks' narrow EDF Energy Cup win at Harlequins on Saturday.
The teams could not be separated by tries in the close contest, with Harlequins and visitors Sharks scoring three apiece - Sean Cox, Oriol Ripol and Sililo Martens crossing the whitewash for Sale.
The spotlight, however, fell on the two fly-halves Sharks' number 10 Daniel Larrechea sustained a suspected broken ankle during the game after posting 13 points, while his kicking rival Adrian Jarvis missed five of his eight kicks.
Jarvis' match-determining miss came in the 89th minute when a successful conversion would have handed Harlequins their first victory of the season.
