London Irish 14 Sale Sharks 31

16/10/2006

PHILIPPE Saint-Andre dubbed his team's bonus point victory at London Irish, on Sunday, Sharks' best performance yet this season.

Spanish winger Oriol Ripol scored a brace of tries to clinch the Premiership champions' first bonus point of their title-defence campaign.

Irish's involvement in the game was stifled early on by a cohesive and determined Sharks side who ran in two tries, scored by Mark Cueto and centre Mark Taylor, without reply in the first half-hour.

The physical clash, which although not tight in points terms did provide some close encounters of the bruising kind, leaves Sharks and Irish with just four days to recover before their respective matches in the Heineken Cup.
