Sharks’ Remarks

29/11/2006

We continue our Sharks' Remarks feature this week with Mark Taylor.

"IT was very important to get a win under our belts against Harlequins following a tough couple of weeks for us.

"Another loss could have put a severe dent in our title hopes so the win coupled with a better performance was vital on the night.

"The injuries to Sheri, Charlie Hodgson and Jason White are a blow but that's what sport is all about.

"Injuries are part and parcel of playing rugby and you have to expect them, it's just a question of how you cope.

"Their spirits are fine and dressing room morale is high, so we have to get on with it.

"Of course it gives an opportunity for three lads to come into the side and stake their claim for a starting role.

"We have an exciting fortnight coming up which begins with the EDF Energy Cup match against Llanelli Scarlets this Saturday.

"After that we've got the back-to-back clashes against Stade Francais in the Heineken Cup.

"So what an opportunity, playing in front of 50,000 in the Stade de France, to show exactly what we can do.

"It will be a massive occasion, not only over there but at Edgeley Park too, and I'm sure our supporters will turn out in force.

"If we can pass the test in an atmosphere like it will be, then I'm sure it will give us a real confidence boost and hopefully we can kick on from there."
