A great effort from Stockport stars
Jamie Bramley19/ 9/2007
STOCKPORT bowls showed why it’s an integral part of the community last Thursday night.
An event was held at LMRCA in Edgeley to raise money for St Anne’s Hospice.
The game was between LMRCA, the Stockport and District C Division champions, and an A and B Division Allstars select.
On the green, the Allstars took command with seven winners to the home side’s three, winning the aggregate by 24 chalks.
Good results for the home side came from Jamie Bramley - 21-12 against Martin Walker - and Ian Myatt, with the same score against Craig Shore.
The Allstars’ best player was Steve Millward who won 21-9 and took home the man-of-the-match award.
With bowls coming second, nearly £100 was raised and credit to Peter Conway for arranging the game.

In the Stockport and District League, some important issues were resolved last week.
New Mills look to have handed the First Division’s runner-up spot to Nursery after taking a lowly two winners at George and Dragon.
In the Third Division, Bungalow and Woodley Sports fell out of the dreaded trap door.
Meanwhile, in Division Five, Nursery survived at the expense of Victoria by a single point.
The Workshops Mixed League went the way of Phillips despite a brave effort by GMS last Friday.
In the Waterloo at Blackpool, Stockport players John Bennett (Whaley Bridge) and Peter Tilley (Nursery) were finally beaten at the last 64 stage.
