Barnsley piled on the misery for long-suffering Stockport County fans.

The Tykes - still fighting off relegation despite their upturn in fortunes following the arrival of Steve Parkin - were always in control against a sorry County.

Ex-Manchester City striker Mike Sheron started the rot after just 15 minutes with a wonder solo goal which gave rookie keeper Sam Turner no chance.

County had a chance to level within the next ten minutes but both Shefki Kuqi and Carlton Palmer couldn't find the back of the net.

Player-coach Palmer's luck worsened as he scored an own goal, turning the impressive Sheron's cross into County's net.

When Turner failed to hold on to Sheron's shot in the 79th minute, Chris Morgan was on hand to drive home Barnsley's third.

Kuqi grabbed a late consolation for County.
