More players to depart

27/12/2001

SOCCER: Fuming Carlton Palmer says more players will be shipped out, following the latest loss to relegation rivals Barnsley.

Palmer was fuming after the 3-1 home loss to the Tykes on Boxing Day - County's seventh successive defeat in a run unequalled since 1969.

''It's getting worse, but nothing has ever beaten me before and this won't beat me,'' Palmer said.

''We need better personnel and we also need to get some players out. A lot of the players here haven't got the passion needed to play at this football club.

"Some are taking far too much money in wages and I have to get them out.

''We certainly didn't deserve anything from this game.''

Barnsley manager Steve Parkin was delighted to have picked up the club's first away win of the season.

"We're on a decent run now," he said. "I'm just delighted to win away from home for the first time this season.

"It's never easy to come to a place like this and win, but we were worthy winners."
