Eighth straight loss for County
31/12/2001
SOCCER: Stockport County 0 Birmingham City 3
A NEW-look, youthful County side crashed to promotion hopefuls Birmingham City.
Carlton Palmer made five changes to the side beaten by Barnsley on Boxing Day, but they were no match for Steve Bruce's Birmingham.
Steve Vickers broke the deadlock when he finished off Jon McCarthy's cross, while Birmingham added another shortly after the break as Marcelo scored from a rebound after a ball over the top by Martin Grainger.
Tommy Mooney's 20-yard drive completed the rout in the 76th minute.
For County, Mike Flynn saw a header hit the post, while Jon Daly was denied a strike on goal by a last-ditch Jeff Kenna tackle.
