Pickering’s Mossley mission

WOODLEY Sports manager Ally Pickering is relishing the prospect of returning to his former club Mossley on Boxing Day.

Pickering was sacked as manager of the Lilywhites two years ago, to be replaced by his assistant, Jason Beckford.

Former Manchester City striker Beckford is still in charge at Seel Park, with his side currently placed second in the UniBond first division table.

Pickering said: "I'm really looking forward to going back to Mossley. I haven't been back since I left but I have spoken to a few of their fans and they've been okay with me."

Ex-Coventry City and Stoke City full-back Pickering, who left Mossley under a bit of a cloud, added: "I'll just go up there to get a result, then they can say what they want when I've gone."

Striker Daniel Douglas-Pringle will be available for Woodley again on Boxing Day, while boss Pickering is also hoping to draft back recent departure Carlos Meakin following his move to Hyde United.

Meakin hasn't been featuring for the Tigers, so Pickering is hoping he might return to Woodley on loan initially.

• STRIKER Liam Dickinson impressed Stockport County manager Chris Turner during his recent trial spell with the Hatters.

A decision on whether he is to be offered a contract is expected later this week, according to Ally Pickering.
