Proud night for Nicola

26/ 4/2006

STOCKPORT-based Nicola Pugh was named 'Sports Achiever of the Year' at a glittering Greater Manchester Sports Awards ceremony at SportCity in Manchester.

Trampolining starlet Nicola, who represented the Senior Great Britain team at last year's World Championships in Holland, was recognised as a truly outstanding example of dedication to sport and physical activity at grass roots level.

Nicola trains four times a week and in the current Senior Ladies National DMT champion.

GreaterSport chief executive Richard Saunders said: "The people who won awards are those who show an outstanding contribution to the many different facets of community sport.

"Without people like this, grass roots sport would not exist, and in the wake of the Olympic 2012 decision, community sport is becoming increasingly more important.

"On behalf of the Greater Manchester Sports Partnership I would like to thank all the nominees and congratulate the winners of the Greater Manchester Awards."
