Stockport on march

THE Headlands Road faithful witnessed another convincing performance from the North 2 West champions on Saturday.

In the 15th minute Stockport opened the scoring when Bertram Johnson intercepted a mis-timed Fleetwood pass and sent Owen Lucas through for his fifth try of the season.

Stockport soon added a try from Johnson, and a successful conversion from Martin Shelley made the score 17-5.

Just before half time Richard Adamson became Stockport's 28th different try-scorer this season, going through the middle of Fleetwood's defence to make the score 22-5 at the interval.

Early in the second half the home side increased their lead as Marc Smith went over in the corner, then after Fleetwood had added their second and final try, Stockport hit back straight away with a try from Nick Royle. Adamson's conversion took the score to 34-10.

Simon Baker made an instant impact coming on as a sub for the injured Raven combining with Royle to sneak over the line for a try, Adamson converting to make the score 41-10.

Further late tries from sub Simon Baker, Dave Holehouse and Dan Eccles topped off a fine win for Stockport.
