Woodley’s ‘winnable’ tie

Simon Smedley
8/11/2006

WOODLEY Sports' reward for Saturday's superb FA Trophy win over Whitby Town is a third round tie away at Conference North strugglers Moor Green.

The tie will take place on Saturday, November 25. Woodley sealed their passage last weekend after coming from 2-1 behind against the UniBond Premier Division high-fliers thanks to goals from Mario Sergio-Daniel (2) and Daniel Douglas-Pringle.

Manager Ally Pickering said: "The lads did very well against Whitby.

"One or two things had to be said inside the club as certain players hadn't been pulling their weight of late, but all the lads responded brilliantly on Saturday. I was delighted with the attitude.

"We now face Moor Green at the end of the month, and that's another winnable tie. We've already beaten loftier opposition this season in cup competitions. That run can continue."

Woodley's UniBond first division campaign needs to get back on track on Saturday when they host Harrogate Railway Athletic.

  • MIDFIELDER Carlos Meakin has left Woodley and joined New Mills.
