Athletic are de-Railed

HARROGATE Railway Athletic were sent packing by Woodley Sports at Lambeth Grove on Saturday.

Ally Pickering's side cruised to a splendid 4-1 win and are now homing in on the UniBond League division one play-off zone, with a couple of games still in hand on most of the chasing pack.

Gavin Salmon scored another two against Harrogate, while Danny Queeley and Mario Sergio-Daniel made up the tally.

Saturday's win followed Woodley's midweek 2-1 home success against Bamber Bridge. On target last Tuesday night were Salmon and Queeley.

Woodley's cup exploits this season mean they are still playing catch-up in terms of league games to be played, but this week more points are up for grabs.

Last night [Tues] the Steelmen travelled to third-bottom Wakefield, while on Saturday the local outfit host mid-table Alsager Town.

Meanwhile, Pickering has still managed to boost his in-form squad with two new captures this week.

Jamie Kay, who began his career at Stockport County, has linked up with Woodley from near neighbours Stalybridge Celtic, while Carlo Dilibero has signed from Curzon Ashton.
